Houston backyards live outdoors nine months of the year. Your patio needs to handle barbecues, kids, pool traffic, sudden 4" rains, and 100°F heat — without ponding water at the back door or cracking through a single summer.
  • Custom shapes — rectangular, curved, kidney, multi-level
  • Integrated drainage and slope away from foundation (1/4" per ft)
  • Trench drains, channel drains, and French drain tie-ins
  • Outdoor kitchen foundation pads engineered for grill weight
  • Pool deck specifications — slip-resistant finishes
  • Optional stamped, colored, or exposed aggregate finishes

What You Should Know Before You Pour

The Patio Design Process

We start with how you actually use the space — grill location, table footprint, lounging area, traffic flow. Then we draw it to scale, mark drains, and confirm shape with you before any forms go in.

Houston Rain Drainage

Houston gets 50+ inches of rain a year, sometimes 6 inches in a single storm. Every patio we pour slopes 1/4" per foot away from the house. Larger patios get integrated channel drains tied into the yard or street.

Edge Styles

Tooled edges (clean radius), formed bullnose (premium curved), or square saw-cut edges for modern looks. Curved edges are formed with flexible composite — no plywood splinters.

Concrete + Border Combinations

Brick, paver, or natural stone borders integrated into the slab pour for high-end finished looks. We pour the concrete to the inside face of the border so there's no gap maintenance later.

Covered Patio Slabs

Slabs intended to support roof posts need engineered footing pads — typically 24" square × 12" deep. Tell us about your cover plans during the estimate; we engineer the pour to match.

Outdoor Kitchen Foundations

Outdoor kitchen islands and pizza ovens need real foundation work — 6" reinforced pads minimum, with utility chases (gas, water, electrical) buried before the pour. We coordinate with your kitchen builder.
FAQ

Common Questions

4 inches standard, with #3 rebar on 18" grid. Patios supporting outdoor kitchens or hot tubs get 6" with engineered reinforcement under the load points.
